Software Musik Gratis

Sebagai seseorang yang sudah cukup lama dan antusias memanfaatkan komputer sebagai sarana membuat musik, saya sudah merasakan berbagai macam software musik, mulai dari yang bajakan hingga yang gratis. Mengenai software bajakan, memang itu solusi termudah yang ada di sekitar kita. Anda yang tinggal di Bandung mungkin sudah pernah mengunjungi lapak-lapak di depan Mesjid Salman atau di BEC yang menjual berbagai software bajakan, termasuk software musik. Dengan harga yang cukup murah, kita sudah bisa mencoba software seperti Reason atau Ableton Live (my fav!), yang harga aslinya ketika dikurskan ke rupiah bisa mencapai jutaan rupiah. Faktanya, memang mudah mendapatkan software-software ini. Belum lagi melihat fakta bahwa inilah software-software yang dipakai para musisi dunia. Tapi, software ini bukan tanpa masalah, terutama masalah stabilitas. Seringkali ketika saya sedang mengulik software ini, tiba-tiba software crash, ataupun mendadak latency meningkat yang berakibat soundnya jadi jelek banget. Belum lagi masalah cacat GUI, wah…cukup menyiksa.

Setelah saya membaca wawancara dengan ebberapa musisi luar, ada suatu hal yang saya tangkap di sana. Seringkali mereka menekankan pentingnya memakai software asli dan bukan cracked software. Alasannya mirip dengan masalah yang saya temui ketika memakai software bajakan, yakni stabilitas. Reason yang diakui stabil saja di komputer saya bermasalah.
Nah berkaca dari masalah di atas, saya pun mulai berpikir untuk memakai software asli. Tapi duit dari mana? Nah, untuk itulah, ada ribuan freeware yang siap dipakai, dengan kualitas asik. Untuk DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) ada Ardour atau Reaper yang kualitasnya bagus. Synthesizer? Ada synth1 atau Crystal. Audio editor? Ada Audacity. Wah, pokoknya akan butuh banyak postingan untuk memabahas yang terbaik di setiap kategori software. Saya sendiri sedang berusaha memilih mana yang terbaik di antara freeware-freeware ini. Sejauh ini, yang bisa saya sampaikan adalah mereka semua bagus! Yang jelas, software-software gratis ini sudah banyak tersedia dan tinggal kapan diunduh dan dimanfaatkan.
